    • Undergraduate students enrolled full time in the School of Education and Human Services
    • Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA
    • Completed at least one semester at OU
    • Essay describing how the applicant has distinguished themselves academically by describing awards and honors received, involvement in the community, and professional objectives
    • Financial need may be considered

    • SAT score 1130-1190 or ACT composite score 23-24

    Accounting and Finance Advisory Board Accounting Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student or Graduate student with a declared major in Accounting, who has exhibited strong academic performance while working a job to provide funds to pay tuition, and achieved major standing
    • Have completed ACC 3100 (formerly ACC 310) at OU and have completed or be currently enrolled in at least one Accounting major course at OU
    • Be working at least 10 hours per week while attending school
    • Having served in a leadership role in OU extracurricular activities will enhance the application



    Accounting and Finance Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship

    • Declared accounting or finance major and admitted to major standing based upon completion of the University's School of Business Administration requirements
    • Have completed at least two accounting courses beyond ACC 2000 (formerly ACC 210)
    • Employed and working more than 10 hours per week while attending classes
    • Extracurricular involvement and community service will be considered
    • Recipients must attend the annual accounting/finance banquet and write a thank you letter to the Board within 30 days of scholarship notification

    • Undergraduate student with a declared major in Finance, who has exhibited strong academic performance while working a job to provide funds to pay tuition, and achieved major standing
    • Have completed FIN 3220 (formerly FIN 322) at OU
    • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
    • Working at least 10 hours per week while attending school
    • Having served in a leadership role in OU extracurricular activities will enhance the application



    Alice Shotwell Gustafson Keeper of the Dream Scholarship

    • Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement (a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at time of application)
    • Have a clear career focus and academic persistence
    • Demonstrated outstanding citizenship and leadership in interracial issues, and have contributed to interracial understanding and goodwill
    • Be returning to Oakland in the fall and winter semester of the following academic year



    Allen Gough III Memorial Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Human Resource Development program
    • No essay required
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0
    • Student must demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA
    • Student must have junior or senior standing



    Alumni Association Study Abroad Scholarship

    • Be an undergraduate student with a minimum of 55 credit hours at the time of departure for study abroad
    • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Submit scholarship application along with your program proposal
    • Provide two letters of recommendation from OU faculty members



    Amanda M. Iodice Creative Writing Gift Fund

    • Candidates must be creative writing majors in good academic standing
    • Candidates must complete an application  



    American Association of University Women - Farmington Branch Endowed Scholarship

    • Non-traditional students whose education was interrupted by work, family, or other obligations
    • Working to complete the student's first bachelor's degree
    • Enrolled in at least six (6) credits or more
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
    • Preference given to candidates nearest to completing their degree
    • Consideration may include financial need



    Amy Butler and Paul Kennaugh Energy Innovator’s Annual Scholarship

    • Engineering or computer science major
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
    • Demonstrate interest or plan toward energy applications

    Ann V. Nicholson Endowed Scholarship for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Students

    • Must demonstrate strong community service interest and societal awareness through selection and execution of a relevant Capstone Project or direct volunteer activities and achievements as an OUWB student



    Anna M. Huebner Endowed Fund for Nursing Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled full time pursuing a Basic BSN degree
    • Minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher in pre-nursing courses for students applying prior to the first semester of the BSN program or a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher in completed School of Nursing courses for students applying in semesters two through six of the BSN program
    • Preference given to applicants demonstrating academic merit



    Anne Fauls Leach Memorial Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in the Basic BSN, ASD or RN/BSN Programs
    • Demonstrates financial need as determined by FAFSA reporting.



    Anonymous Endowed Accounting Student Scholarship

    • Undergraduate or graduate students with established records of exceptional scholarship in accounting
    • Preference will be given to students who are actively involved in student organizations and, in particular, students who have accepted leadership positions within those organizations



    Aspiring Educator Student Teaching Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education
    • Student will be student teaching in the next academic year (semester/s award will be applied)
    • Minimum GPA of a 2.8
    • Student must have 91 credits completed (senior standing) when scholarship is awarded



    Barbara A. Calam Oncology Nursing Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled full time (12 credits or more) in the Basic BSN program
    • Applicants must have completed one semester in the program and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher for courses in the program
    • Preference will be given to students desiring to pursue a career in oncology nursing, submit a statement no longer than one page explaining why they are planning to focus on oncology nursing.(500 w/max)



    Barbara and Allen Gough Endowed Scholarship in Human Resource Development

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in Human Resource Development program
    • Experienced an interruption of studies or a minimum of a two year delay 
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
    • Preference will be given to students with financial need



    Barry S. Winkler Scholarship

    • Be in "Good Standing" in The Honors College and have at least a 3.5 GPA
    • Have achieved Junior Standing
    • Be committed to continuing studies in the Sciences
    • Preference given to students who demonstrate Financial Need



    Ben R. and Virginia G. Hawkins Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student who shows outstanding promise performing in the Meadow Brook Estate



    Benedettini-Pearson Endowed Scholarship

    • Must have graduated from a public high school located in Detroit, Flint, Oak Park, or Pontiac, MI
    • Freshman who has selected business or economics as their preferred program of study on the admissions application
    • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the greatest financial need



    Benjamin Anibal Endowed Engineering Scholarship

    • Engineering student



    Betty and Shelly Appleton Critical Difference Endowed Fund for Music, Theatre, and Dance

    • Admitted to major standing for the Bachelor of Arts in Dance, the Bachelor of Music in Music Education, or the Master of Music Education
    • Academic performance, faculty recommendation, and service to the Oakland University and/or larger community will be considered
    • Must be seeking to fund a quality experience/opportunity/project important to the student's future development; Consideration will be given for availability of matching or supplemental funding
    • Preference will be given to students planning careers in teaching at any level, especially to students whose career goals concentrate on introducing, guiding or teaching others to enjoy or understand the music or dance of a non-Western culture through participation in multicultural arts experience
    • If eligible applicants are equally meritorious in all the above criteria, preference will be given to undergraduate students over graduate students



    Betty and Shelly Appleton Critical Difference Endowed Fund for Political Science

    • Admitted to major standing in Political Science or Public Administration or Secondary Education with a declared major or minor in political science
    • Academic performance, faculty recommendation, and service to Oakland University and/or the larger community will be considered; Must be seeking to fund a quality experience/opportunity/project important to the student's future development
    • Consideration will be given for availability of matching or supplemental funding
    • Preference will be given to students planning careers in teaching at any level

    Board of Visitor Nightingale Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students with junior class standing in the Basic BSN program
    • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
    • Have a strong clinical performance
    • Involved in student and community activities
    • Recommended by two School of Nursing faculty



    Brad M. Glass Endowed Scholarship

    • Candidates must be junior or senior majoring in one of the Department’s theatre programs
    • Candidates must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0
    • Students may only receive one award in each academic year but are otherwise eligible to apply for awards in subsequent academic years



    Brady Youngblood Scholarship for Special Education

    • First-year graduate student studying in one of the degree programs focused on special education, or an undergraduate student with a preference of special education after taking the undegraduate course in special education
    • GPA of 3.5 or higher
    • An essay of 500 words or less on a particular topic such as career goals or the importance of service to the special education population



    Brian Meer Endowed Business Education Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students admitted to major standing in the School of Business Administration
    • Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA
    • Submit one page essay describing how receipt of an Award will assist them, either directly or indirectly, in successfully completing their studies and obtaining their undergraduate degree
    • Letters of reference will be considered



    Bruce Stuckman Electrical and Computer Engineering Endowed Scholarship

    • Incoming freshman student
    • Graduate of a Michigan high school with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
    • Enrolled in the School of Engineering and Computer Science pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering



    Bud Kulesza Family Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student with a declared major in accounting
    • Completed at least two accounting courses beyond ACC 2100 (formerly ACC 210)
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in accounting courses beyond ACC 2100
    • Attending the accounting banquet held annually



    Bunting and Briggs Freedom of the Press Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student with junior class standing
    • Major standing in Journalism
    • Currently working on a student newspaper
    • Future plans to work on a newspaper upon graduation from Oakland University
    • Employed at least 20 hours a week or works for the student newspaper in a staff writer or editor capacity
    • Preferences given to students who do not hunt animals or engage in the sport of hunting, use tobacco or use any controlled substance as defined by Michigan law
    • Preferences will also be given to students who belong to statewide or national conservation or environmental groups and has at least one hobby and/or interest unrelated to work or school



    Calam-Malek Endowed Pediatric Nursing Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Nursing, Basic BSN, ASD or RN/BSN programs
    • Sophmore standing or above
    • Earning a minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Essay required (500 word) detailing interest in pediatric nursing



    Camille R. Torner Endowed Tuition Award Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Basic BSN program
    • Completed at least two semesters in the program
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in the academic program
    • Preference given to students with the highest cumulative Oakland University GPA



    Carl and Elsie Ganfield Endowed Scholarship

    • Applicants must be commuter students not living in Oakland University housing
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
    • Demonstrated leadership roles in at least one of the following: campus activities, employment, or community involvement
    • Preference given to students who live in Orion, MI and/or Oxford, MI
    • Preference given to applicants who are gainfully employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week or employed and participating in community service activities for a minimum of 30 hours per week
    • Preference given to students who are registered for 16 credit hours and in good standing with Oakland University



    Carmine Rocco Linsalata Endowed Memorial Scholarship

    • Attained at least sophomore standing by completing a minimum of 28 credits at Oakland University
    • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
    • Intended to major or minor in a foreign language
    • Student must be nominated and selection committee must receive statements from two persons giving evidence of good citizenship and from two persons giving evidence of academic excellence



    Carol Ann Weber Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled full time or part time in the Basic BSN program
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA in required pre-nursing courses if being considered prior to their first semester in the Bachelor of Nursing program or if they are applying in semesters two through six of the Bachelor of Nursing program
    • Preference given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need



    Carol Carpenter Memorial Endowed Writing Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences whose major is within the Department of English
    • Preference will be given to a student with a demonstrated interest in poetry



    Carol Carpenter Memorial Scholarship in Education

    • Undergraduate student majoring in education
    • Minimum cumulative GPA required for the educaiton program



    Carrell T. and Helen R. Sherman Endowed Scholarship

    • Resident of Macomb County, Michigan seeking admission as a full time student at Oakland University
    • High school GPA of 3.5 or higher
    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Student must be enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree from Oakland University
    • Preference given to students who come from farm families



    Catherine Tyler Memorial International Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate or graduate students in good standing with a declared major in one of the programs in the School of Business Administration
    • Participating in a university approved study abroad or international internship program



    Chiu Family SBA Education Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student in the School of Business Administration with good academic standing
    • Earned GPA of 2.7 to 3.2
    • Must have earned at least 80 university credit hours



    Christine and Ivan Wilcox Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student majoring in Engineering
    • Preference given to students pursuing degrees in mechanical engineering

    • Awards made based on merit and achievement



    Chrysler-Plymouth Dealers Association of Greater Detroit Endowed Scholarship

    • Employee, child or grandchild of an employee of a Chrysler-Plymoth Dealers Association of Greater Detroit Member
    • Freshman, current student, or transfer student
    • Based on academic performance but may consider financial need



    Coderre Endowed Scholarship

    • Admitted to Oakland University and establish financial need
    • Preference given to students whose parents did not graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree



    Cody Petzold Endowed Scholarship

    • Demonstration of LGBT+ promotion and awareness
    • Leadership involvement on Oakland University's campus
    • Minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA
    • At least junior class standing
    • Essay submission discussion how the applicant's leadership roles have positively impacted the Oakland University student body



    Commuter Student Scholarship Award

    • New undergraduate student at freshman or sophomore level as of fall 2021
    • Enrolled at least half-time (6-8 credit minimum)
    • Commuter student living off campus
    • Pursuing major offered by the School of Business Administration, the School of Education and Human Services, or the College of Arts and Sciences
    • Achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 for earned college credits, or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from high school
    • Working toward your first baccalaureate degree
    • Demonstrates financial need (as indicated by completing the FAFSA)

    Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in Basic BSN program; attained sophomore, junior, or senior class standing
    • Demonstrate successful work experience in the Nursing profession or otherwise demonstrate a bona fide intent to engage in the Nursing profession
    • Demonstrate active community leadership skills
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
    • Submit an essay describing current career interests and possible future professional goals (500 w/max)
    • Submit written recommendation from an Oakland University faculty member



    Danny Lloyd Jordan Jazz Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students admitted to a Bachelor of Music professional degree program
    • Preference given in the following hierarchy: 1)Jazz majors, 2) Jazz minors, 3) students participating in one of Oakland University jazz programs



    David and Marion Handleman Academic Achievers and Leaders Honors College Endowed Scholarship (Current HC Students)

    • Full-time current undergraduate students in the Honors College
    • Minimum GPA of 3.7
    • Demonstrate financial need



    David and Marion Handleman Academic Achievers and Leaders Honors College Endowed Scholarship (Incoming HC Freshmen)

    • Full-time incoming freshmen students in the Honors College
    • Minimum GPA of 3.8 and 28 ACT or 1300 SAT
    • Confirmation of admittance to the Honors College by ATTENDING AN HC INFO SESSION by March 1st

    David and Marion Handleman Academic Promise Honors College Endowed Scholarship

    • Must have been admitted to Honors College through the APPLICATION PROCESS with (minimum 3.6 GPA and 23 ACT or 1130 SAT) and have attended an HC Info session by March 1st
    • Full-time incoming undergraduate students in the Honors College
    • Must demonstrate academic promise
    • Demonstrate financial need



    David Brennan Support for Nursing Studies Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in Basic BSN or RN/BSN program
    • Eligible to receive need based aid as established by Oakland University
    • Enrolled in eight credits or more



    Degree Completion Scholarship

    • Students in good academic standing
    • Need funding for the last one or two classes prior to graduation
    • Are otherwise not eligible for financial aid
    • Do not have a past due balance



    Dennis and Carlotta Pawley Endowed Undergraduate Student Lean Endowed Scholarship

    • Be an undergraduate student enrolled at least part time at Oakland University
    • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Be eligible under the guidelines within Oakland University Financial Aid
    • Submit a completed application form
    • Submit along with the application form one of the following lean-related materials: paper(s), individual or group project(s), presentation(s) or other material(s) developed by the applicant
    • If no such project exists, submit an essay of no less than 500 words detailing how your work relates to the development and practice of lean principles and practices and/or submit a paper demonstrating the intent to study lean and lean principles. Include the coursework that will support lean knowledge content and the career opportunities that support the lean skillset.
    • May submit recommendations from faculty. While recommendations are encouraged, they are not required to receive this award



    Dennis and Carlotta Pawley Graduate Student Lean Endowed Scholarship

    • Be currently enrolled at least part time as an Oakland University graduate student
    • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
    • Be eligible under the guidelines within Oakland University Financial Aid
    • Submit an application
    • Submit along with the application a paper suitable for publication describing the applicant’s research project or applied research project
    • And/or submit a paper embracing the theory and application of lean principles. The paper must include documentation of significant improvements in efficiency, profitability and lean business practices demonstrated through the student’s academic work, including coursework, internships or assistantships, research, presentations or dissertations
    • And/or submit a paper demonstrating the intent to study lean and lean principles. Include the coursework that will support lean knowledge content and the career opportunities that support the lean skillset



    Department of Political Science Alumni Scholarship in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Administration

    • Minimum overall GPA 2.5
    • Declared OU undergraduate major in political science, public administration, or international relations majors
    • A minimum of 12 department credits (or equivalent transfer courses from other colleges or universities)
    • Strong writing skills as demonstrated by a writing sample
    • Evidence of campus and/or community leadership and engagement
    • Must be attending OU during the fall semester



    Department of Political Science Faculty Scholarship in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Administration

    • Students must have a declared major in political science, public administration, or international relations
    • Minimum of 12 credits of political science or equivalent transfer courses
    • Minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA, and a minimum 3.3 GPA in the major
    • Students must return to OU for the following fall semester



    Diane and Michael Grieves Diversity Endowed Scholarship

    • Enrolled full-time in the School of Business Administration
    • Major standing in MIS
    • Minimum GPA of 2.6
    • Junior standing (56 credit hours) in the School of Business Administration and taken 24 credit hours at OU
    • Letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the School of Business Administration
    • Written statement that addresses why the applicant is deserving of the Grieves scholarship (including academic achievement, community/civic involvement, special awards and honors, etc.)
    • Demonstrated financial need

    • An undergraduate student fully admitted to, and attending, the University's BSN program



    Dicron Tafralian Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student with declared major in accounting and has achieved major standing
    • Have applied to the MAcc program
    • Have completed at least two accounting courses beyond ACC 2100 (formerly ACC 210) at OU
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and minimum GPA of 3.3 in accounting courses beyond ACC 2100 taken at OU
    • Having served in a leadership role in OU extracurricular activities will enhance the application



    Dillon Family Accounting Student Leadership Endowed Scholarship

    • Oakland University undergraduate accounting students entering the Oakland University Master's in Accounting program
    • Demonstrate outstanding leadership and support of an Oakland University accounting student professional organization (OASIS, NABA, or Beta Alpha Psi)
    • Consideration may be given to GPA



    Distinguished Scholar Award

    • High school GPA 3.90 or higher
    • SAT score 1300-1380 or ACT composite score 28-30

    Don. R. Iodice Grant-in-Aid for Foreign Study

    • Currently enrolled with a foreign language major
    • Will return to Oakland University for at least two full semesters
    • Demonstrates proficiency in listening comprehension and speaking proficiency equivalent to two years of study
    • Will enroll in an overseas language program of at least four weeks in another country
    • Demonstrates financial need
    • Will share their foreign study experiences with other students
    • Preference given to students who have not previously studied abroad



    Donald C. Hildum Communication Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students with junior or senior class standing
    • Majoring in Communication
    • Consideration will be given for GPA and career goals
    • Consideration may be given for participation in the forensic team or staff of WXOU



    Donna and Walt Young Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled with the Honors College
    • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
    • Achieved sophomore, junior, or senior class standing at the time of application
    • Have an approved educational plan by Honors College faculty
    • Communicate with the donors about the impact of the experience
    • Preference given to students who exhibit leadership and involvement in the Honors College



    Donna Zobel Endowed Scholarship in Biology

    • Undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Biology
    • Minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA from high school for incoming freshmen and continuing minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA once enrolled at OU
    • Demonstrate financial need



    Doris J. Dressler Scholarship Fund

    • Preference given to students with junior or senior class standing
    • Preference given to undergraduate student majoring in English, but if no suitable candidate is found, the award must go to a student in another College of Arts and Sciences humanities major
    • Demonstrate academic promise and financial need



    Dorothy and Walton A. Lewis Endowed Scholarship

    • Graduates of Detroit high schools or residents of the city of Detroit
    • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0
    • Consideration will be given to national test scores, student activities, community service activities, and an assessment of the candidate's potential to contribute to the quality of academic and student life at OU

    • Preference will be given to students demonstrating academic merit



    Dr. Jeremy R. Agler MPA Leadership Scholarship

    • Recipient must be Oakland University graduate student enrolled in the MPA program, in good standing.  
    • Recipient must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher.
    • Recipient must complete an application including an essay (500-word max).
    • The essay should highlight the student’s desired outcomes and goals upon completing the MPA program.



    Dr. Judith M. Fouladbakhsh Complimentary Integrative Holistic Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in the Basic BSN, ASD or RN/BSN Program or Masters of Science in Nursing
    • Minimum GPA 3.0
    • Brief statement required (500 max) explaining how they are interested in complimentary integrative holistic care



    Dr. Manuel H. Pierson Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least 12 credits
    • Demonstrate financial need



    Dr. Nasir Haque Endowment for Biological Science Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student entering junior or senior year of study in the Department of Biological Sciences
    • Based on merit



    Edward Kuhn Memorial Endowed Scholarship

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in Bachelor of Science Health Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, Wellness, or Health Promotion and Injury Prevention degree programs
    • Attained sophomore class standing or higher
    • Demonstrate financial need



    Elizabeth Copeland Glass Upward Bound Memorial Endowed Scholarship

    • Senior students who are selected based on their contributions as scholars, leaders and responsible citizens of the institution.



    Elizabeth Hopkins Patton Endowed Scholarship

    • The Carol Kirken Endowed Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students was established in memory of Carol Kirken. Carol deeply held to her belief in providing her children and herself with educational opportunities for achieving success in their chosen career paths. This scholarship continues her belief and passes along this opportunity for success
    • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at OU, maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.5, provide an unofficial transcript of grades and resume
    • Must be a non-traditional student whose education was delayed or interrupted by work, family or other obligations
    • Be employed at the time of the award
    • Have minor children by birth or adoption
    • Must be married or head-of-household (male or female) as defined by the IRS tax code

    The Dreamweaver Chinese Language Scholarship

    • Be an undergraduate student at the University pursuing a major and/or a minor in Chinese Language 
    • Have an overall grade point average of at least 3.0
    • Have a GPA of at least 3.5 in Chinese Language courses taken at the University
    • Have completed or are completing their second semester of Chinese Language courses at the University
    • Be enrolled in a Chinese Language course at the University, or be participating in a University approved study abroad program in a Chinese-speaking country or region during the semester in which the award is made 



    The Edna Shapiro Memorial Scholarship

    • Undergraduate student enrolled in the Elementary Education program
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.8
    • A single head-of-household, as defined by IRS Tax Code or a married head-of-household, as defined by the IRS Tax Code
    • Have minor children by birth or adoption
    • Submit a written essay of 500-750 words describing how the applicant’s past experiences have shaped their personal and professional goals and why they have chosen the teaching profession.
    • Preference given to students who have junior or senior standing



    The Frank Lepkowski Undergraduate Research in Writing Award

    • Only individual work is eligible. Group papers or projects will not be considered.
    • Only one submission per student.
    • Students must be currently enrolled at Oakland University at the time the award is presented (Winter 2019).
    • The paper or project must have been completed for courses taken in the Winter 2018, Summer 2018, or Fall 2018 semesters.
    • Papers or projects must include a bibliography, list of works cited, footnotes or other bibliographic system according to recognized style guides.
    • Most Honors theses are not eligible because papers must have been completed during the previous calendar year and students must be currently enrolled at the time of the award.



    The Holly and Garry Gilbert Endowment for Safeguarding the Public Interest

    • Undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences majors
    • Minimum of 12 credit hours completed at Oakland University
    • Must be full-time
    • Provide examples of work with scholarship application in research, reporting, and storytelling, etc., that informs and safeguards the public-interest principle. These works should empower the public by describing changing events, issues and characters in the world.

    The Hubert Price Jr. Memorial Scholarship for Social Sciences

    • Be either an incoming freshman or transfer student to the University or be a current undergraduate student at the University
    • Have a declared major in the social sciences within the University’s College of Arts and Sciences
    • Reside within the City of Pontiac at the time they are selected to receive an award (students renewing an Award need not reside in Pontiac)
    • Have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or greater if receiving an Award as an incoming freshman or a cumulative collegiate GPA of 2.7 or greater if receiving an Award as an incoming transfer student or currently enrolled University student

    The Talbert Tenacity Scholarship

    • Candidates must complete an application, including an essay (300 word max) that explains how their persistence has enabled them to continue in school despite personal challenges and obstacles. The statement should state the student’s academic goals; family and work obligations; and personal characteristics that have helped them persist in college.
    • Applications must also include a letter of support, limited to one page, from someone who has knowledge of the challenges the student has confronted, and who can attest to the student’s resolve to complete college despite these obstacles. 



    The Werner & Hilde Holzbock Endowed Humanities Scholarship

    • Candidates must be a junior or senior, during the academic year in which they will receive the award, majoring in one of the College’s humanities programs: Art & Art History, Communication & Journalism, English, History, Linguistics, Modern Languages & Literatures, Philosophy, Writing & Rhetoric, Majors in Liberal Studies will be eligible if two components of their degree program are in the eligible departments listed above
    • Candidates must have a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and at least a 3.6 GPA their in major
